{devotion} like squirmy first graders...

Priorities.
They're like first graders arguing over who gets to be the line leader.
Each child has a reason why he is best fit in front.

As the new school year begins, many things are calling my name. Each priority has a reason why it should be number one. The hard part is getting them in line and keeping them there. Yet, like first graders, priorities are squirmy. They continue to plague me with reasons, vying for my time.

How do I keep them straight? What is most important? What comes first?

Searching answers today with prayer and 1 Timothy 2:1-2
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

How do you deal with priorities? Are yours in line?

  1. Ha! I love this Meag! I never thought of priorities this way but it is so true! I have to remember I cannot multitask...no one can and I just have to let the squirmy ones squirm while I'm concentrating on the one in front of me. But, it doesn't mean I'm always successful! LOL :)

  2. Meag, I had a smile. Having 3 kids there is a lot of me first. I never thought of priorities in that way before. I am glad that you were able to share this with us. I'll be pondering the same question now.

In this "shotgun" world we're taught to think of ourselves first, that we're the priority, always deserving to be at the front of the line. However, according to HIS word, the last shall be first. Being first here pales in comparison.
    Thank you for your words...

  4. Yup, an ongoing issue - those priorities, "like squirmy first-graders." Love that image, puts a funny spin on a weighty problem. Thanks! Visiting from the Sunday Community, have a peaceful, quiet, godly (in Him) and dignified week.

  5. Hi Meag! Thanks so much for linking u with Fresh Brewed Sundays. I see from your "about me" that you are a coffee and chocolate lover as well! My priorities get easily unbalanced. It's hard to prioritize when I feel like all that I do is a priority -- wife, mom, worker, minister; but I know that when I first give my day to Him, and thank Him for what He's already done, He is faithful to help me to prioritize my day!
